Insurance

A New Story Counseling is an out-of-network provider and does not panel with any insurance companies. However, we can provide you with a receipt from each session (called a Superbill), which you could submit to your insurance for partial reimbursement.

If this is something you are interested in, please contact your insurance company and ask “What is my reimbursement rate for out-of-network counseling?”

Additionally, clients are commonly able to use HSA or FSA funds to pay for counseling services.

Why we’ve chosen not to panel with insurance companies:

We’ve chosen not to partner directly with health insurance for a few reasons. Insurance typically covers services they deem “medically necessary,” often requiring a formal mental health diagnosis that becomes part of your permanent health record. This process involves demonstrating how your mental health condition significantly impacts your daily life. Unfortunately, this requirement can result in frequent coverage denials due to its complexity.

Most clients seeking counseling are dealing with intricate life challenges rather than specific mental health disorders. Their needs often don’t warrant a diagnosis, as they might be grappling with issues like grief or life transitions. While many of our clients don’t have diagnosable disorders, they still benefit greatly from therapy.

We’re here to support your journey towards well-being, and we’re available to address any questions you may have regarding insurance or payments. Your mental health and comfort are our priority.
